Character Name: Rui Ninomiya
Series: Gatchaman Crowds
Age: 19
From When?: At the end of season one, directly after the "One Year Later" epilogue, but before any of the events of season two (aka Gatchaman Crowds Insight).
Inmate/Warden: Warden. Rui is incredibly determined throughout the entire series that humanity needs to, and is capable of, "updating" -- of realizing, as a people, the joy that comes from reaching out and helping a stranger, of forming planetwide community, of everyone being able to become a hero. After struggling with keeping a distance and not quite trusting people through much of the first season, Rui has reached a point where she's a true idealist and trusts people to work together to improve the world. She would put a lot of faith in an inmate's ability to change, and work towards helping others grow (and encouraging others to help each other) as much as she can.
Item: Her NOTE; information on where her inmate is located, if she needs to find them, unfortunately tends to come in kinda bullshit mystic poetic verse that only hints at the answer, like the prophecies the Gatcha crew normally receive from J.J.
Abilities/Powers: Very, very intelligent, politically and economically savvy, very good with technology and especially programming. Speaks three languages (Japanese, Chinese, and English). With her NOTE, she can summon up a CROWDS (a large, fairly strong one-eyed creature that is basically an extension of her own willpower and has no mind of its own, the eye of which is like a screen that can be communicated through via scrolling text: view here and here) -- an ability which she can also share with others, if they choose to accept, through computer systems -- and can teleport from one location to another, which of course on the Barge will only work to let her into places that aren't closed off to her by the rules.
She is also, in canon, at a point where she can't transform into a Gatchaman suit yet. This may or may not be an ability she'll develop while on the Barge; it seems to be something most newbies have a hard time with at first, and then get a handle on it with time. Eventually Rui may be canon updated at least with this ability; in a Gatchaman suit, people are stronger and more agile, and better defended, protectively armored everywhere except for their NOTE -- an Achilles heel located on their back. They also have certain powers; Rui can still teleport, though she does so with a burst of electricity and seems to travel through electronic communications systems, and she gains small circular weapons that give an electric shock, and a device mounted on her back which she can open a portal through to let other Gatchaman come through to her location (which of course will not work at all unless she gets canonmates).
Personality: [Please write at least 5 solid paragraphs. The more depth and detail, the better! Keep in mind that other players will use this section to determine if your character is a good match for potential Warden/Inmate pairings, and this may be their first exposure to your character.
Barge Reactions: Rui is used to strange things, having been confronted with some pretty major strangeness before she was even a teenager. She knows that aliens are real, and things that are at least technology (and biology!) indistinguishable from magic exist. So being confronted with different species and other worlds and so on won't be a big shock; anything like that that surprises her won't be a surprise for too long, she's very good at rolling with unusual things by now. She's also used to trying to help other people, encourage them to help each other, and prompt them to be better people; it's basically what she's dedicated her life to for years, so she'll slip easily into efforts to not only help her inmate, but the Barge as a whole, trying to make it easier for all the inmates to be better and for all the wardens to help their inmates and each other. She kind of overextends herself that way, and is a definite idealist!
The thing she might take the most time to get used to is the technology on the Barge. Not that it's significantly further advanced, or less advanced, than what she's used to, but that it's so disconnected. The social network GALAX was her pet project, her baby, she's very used to being connected and fostering connections between people; even having communicators and public channels won't feel the same, and of course it doesn't have quite the same purpose or abilities as GALAX or the Internet itself. She'll also have a bit of a hard time at first figuring out how to even offer people the CROWDS ability through the Barge's network.
It's floods and especially breaches that have the possibility of being the biggest problem for Rui. Not everything that happens during those events will panic her, but certain things that could happen would really get to her. To give examples using the examples given in the FAQ, if she and Berg Katze switched positions, and especially if it hurt anyone while it was there, she would be incredibly upset upon getting back; if something affected her personality and she did something she'd normally regret, she might have a hard time accepting that she wasn't at all to blame for it.
Deal: Honestly, Rui would take an opportunity to help people, or an opportunity to help people become better people, without expecting any repayment at all. But she wouldn't want to turn down a deal that she might be able to use to help people, either. After some thought, she would have settled on making a deal that, in return for her service, the lives lost in the Tachikawa Incident would never have died in the first place -- for there to have been no fatalities at all on that day. She'll also likely want to stay on after she's helped one Inmate, and may take some time to decide on what other deals to make then.
